Welcome to APA Division 12, the Society of Clinical Psychology!

If you have a doctoral degree in clinical psychology, are a student in a recognized program in clinical psychology, or have demonstrated interest in and active engagement in practice, research, teaching, administration, and/or study in the field of clinical psychology, you are invited to join APA Division 12, the Society of Clinical Psychology.

Membership benefits include receiving Division 12 publications, The Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Psychology: Science and Practice. In addition, members can access the Division listserve: an active internet group discussing current issues pertaining to the field clinical psychology.

Any given membership year ends as of August 31. Those who join after August 31 will have their membership take effect on January 1 of the following year.

Full Member

Full members have a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from an APA-approved or regionally accredited program, and an internship in Clinical Psychology equivalent to one full-time year in duration. They must also be full members of APA.

Life Status

Do you qualify for APA LIFE Status? If you are 65 or older and have been a member of APA for 25 years, you qualify for beginning Life Status step-down, reducing your basic APA dues over the next five years. You will continue to be assessed division dues. At age 65 or older with 29 years of APA membership, you pay no APA or division dues (Full Life Status).  APA Life status must be requested in writing. See http://www.apa.org/membership/lifemem.html for further information.   It is important that if you go to APA Life Status, you should also request to remain a member of the Division; you will be given a choice as to whether you wish to remain subscribed to the journal. 

Early Career Psychologist Member

As an Early Career Psychologist (ECP) in the first four years after post-doc, you are invited to become affiliated with the Society through the Early Career Affiliate Program. As an ECP affiliate, you will learn more about the activities and issues that are of interest to clinical psychologists, including reviewing for journals, mentoring, etc.

The annual ECP affiliate fee of $40 includes online subscriptions to the Division 12 journal, Clinical Psychology: Science and Practice and The Clinical Psychologist.

Affiliate Member

Affiliate members are those who may or may not be members of APA and may not have received a clinical degree but who have demonstrated interest in and active engagement in practice, research, teaching, administration, and/or study in the field of Clinical Psychology. Affiliate members have no vote on Division 12 nomination ballots.

Student Member

Students are invited to become affiliated with the Society through the Student Affiliate Program. As a student affiliate, you will learn more about the activities and issues that are of interest to clinical psychologists. Undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students are all welcome to become student members of the Society of Clinical Psychology.
